The first step to understanding mental illness symptoms is practising mindfulness of our physical body. Every day our mind sends our body signals to alert us if something is not okay. These could be; random headaches, stomach aches, sleeplessness, tiredness, no appetite or excessive appetite and general aches and pains.

Pay attention to the signals and speak to a medical professional for mental health screening. The more people associate mental illness with psychosis or what most people term “going crazy”, the less likely they will gain an understanding of mental health.
