The campus was establish in 1981 but learning and teaching started to take place in 1983 under the banner of Prince C.N Mahlangu Technical College, named after Prince CN Mahlangu King Mayisha the 2nd.
The name was changed to Ndebele Vocational Technical College and later to C.N Mahlangu Technical College until the merger took place in 2003 with the other three colleges within the region to form Nkangala TVET College and it being CN Mahlangu Campus.
During the Ndebele Vocational Technical College era, it build and established Mareleng Primary school, Phuthikwena Primary school, KwaMhlanga Teachers’ Center and Toitskraal Laerskool Hall using its student as part of practical exposure. The college used to train artisans in Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing and Pane-beating from the Department of Public Works. The college was a special centre of training for presenting Business and Engineering Nated courses with student’s enrolment of around about 400.
The present focus area is on NC(V) Engineering Fabrication L2- L4, Electrical Infrastructure and Construction L2-L4, Engineering Related Design L2 – L4 and Civil and Building Construction L2- L4 .The campus also present Nated courses on part time basis, i.e. Business studies and Engineering.
